Discultured Magazine has announced the launch of India’s biggest young fashion designer contest, set to take place in November this year. This platform offers young and aspiring designers the chance to showcase their talent and creativity, with the added opportunity of launching their own label with support from industry experts. With the fashion industry being a vital sector of India’s economy, the contest has the potential to attract significant attention.

The inaugural season of the Emerging Fashion Designer India Contest took place on December 17th in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, where designers from various states competed with unique designs and approaches to fashion. Participants from the first season are now working on their own brands under our incubation programme.

Why should you Register?

Fashion students will be selected from all entries for the contest, providing them with an opportunity to compete with the freshest and most creative minds in the country. The event serves as a platform for these students to showcase their best work to fashion designers and industry experts who will comprise the jury panel. The winner will receive a prize money of Rs. 100,000/-, along with sponsored support from brands to launch their own label or showcase their work in well-known multi-designer stores. Additionally, participants can join the incubation programme, where industry experts and fashion designers will provide guidance on launching their own label or establishing a career in the industry. The contest targets fashion enthusiasts, students, and professionals interested in the industry, attracting a large audience of young adults seeking to invest in fashion and lifestyle products.

Theme for EFDIC Season 2

This edition’s theme is “Thread to Ramp,” aiming for collections presented during the contest to tell a story. Contestants can explore themes such as sustainable fashion, the perils of fast fashion, fashion innovations, or dying arts and techniques. However, contestants are not limited to these ideas, as the main goal is to provide a platform for aspiring designers and fresh stories. As long as your collection tells a story, you are eligible to participate in the contest. If you’re an aspiring fashion designer eager to showcase your unique approach to fashion, don’t hesitate—registrations are now open!
